Hong Kong Facebook News Analytics Report – January, 2021

Introduction

The Hong Kong Facebook News Analytics Report (the report) contains data and analyses of the Facebook pages of 17 news media outlets in Hong Kong. The data and analyses include the post content, comments and interaction(shares and emotions). The outline of the report is as follows,

  • The following data of the 17 media outlets in January, 2021: the number of posts published, the number of times the posts have been shared, and the number of comments and reactions the posts have received.
  • A comparative analysis of daily engagement data of the 17 media outlets: the comparison of the number of posts published, the number of comments the posts have received, the number of times the posts have been shared.
  • The top 10 most commented posts, shared posts, and liked posts respectively, and the top 10 posts with the most “haha” or “angry”.
  • The report conducted an analysis of the posts with the most occurrence of “fake news” and its synonyms in comments. It also includes an interview with an academic professional regarding the social implications of the abovementioned posts.
